Christmas in Plaça de Catalunya

I am very proud of this latest Christmas initiative, which has turned Plaça de Catalunya into a meeting point, a place for having fun and a centre of responsible consumption. For four Christmases the square had been taken over by an enormous ice rink, which blocked the way for pedestrians, used up a huge amount of energy and was not even accessible to all the city's children, as they had to pay to use it. Today it is a space that has been reclaimed for everyone, where children can have fun for free with lots of games to choose from, watch shows and hang their wishes up in the Forest of Wishes, while grown-ups can do their Christmas shopping at the solidarity fair and enjoy the night-time son et lumière fountain show. As I stroll through the square, feel I am enjoying a space reconquered for the common good :-)
