Ceramic and sgraffiti mural designs Massana School.
The Massana School will work with students to design two murals, one using ceramics and the other sgraffiti. The murals will be created in 2018 at two city locations in a shopping hub.
The idea of the “Literary shutters” project is that shops carry out an artistic intervention in the painted urban landscape on their shutters, employing a literary theme (from novel extracts to visual poetry) in relation to Barcelona. This activity is part of the Promoting Reading Plan.
Guided visits for retailers to municipal museums
Guided visits will be offered to retailers with the aim of improving their perception and knowledge of museums. The following museums have been put forward for this activity: Barcelona History Museum (MUHBA) Plaça del Rei, Design Museum, Reial Monestir de Santa Maria de Pedralbes, Frederic Marès Museum, Barcelona Ethnology Museum, El Born CCM, Montjuïc Castle, Natural Sciences Museum (Blau Museum), Music Museum.
Neighbourhood portraits: through small commerce
“Neighbourhood portraits” is an educational project through which students from primary and secondary schools in Barcelona will learn about the shops in their neighbourhood using photography. The resulting projects published in catalogue format will form part of an exhibition designed and developed by the students themselves. The exhibition will also be displayed online at www.fotografiaencurs.org.
Homage to Casa Vicens (Gran de Gràcia)
To celebrate the opening of Gaudí’s Casa Vicens, retailers from the Gran de Gràcia district will dedicate their shop windows and interiors to the architect’s opera prima. The shop window displays will be designed by window dressing and interior design schools in Barcelona, inspired by Casa Vicens, making use of everyday and recycled materials.
Shutters dressed in art (Sants - Les Corts)
Following the artistic shutters project in late 2016, the Sants - Les Corts district is set to carry out two new initiatives: the publication of a book to popularise the project, both in terms of paintings and their artists, and the development of materials to broadcast information about the routes where shops with decorated shutters can be found.
Sant Andreu commerce, a part of life
Behind every shop there is a story. Some of these little stories can be discovered through the shutters that adorn the shops in Sant Andreu, displaying messages and pictures designed and painted by students from the Llotja Art and Design School. QR codes at the foot of each shutter allow us to see which artist created the work while listening to the story.
