The Torre de Bellesguard, also known as the Casa Figueras, is one of Antoni Gaudí's most iconic buildings, constructed on land that had formerly housed the royal residence of Martin the Humane, the last Catalan monarch. The book takes a journey through the history not just of the various buildings and replacement buildings put up on the site during a period stretching over five centuries but also of the historical figures who lived there, from Margarida de Prades and Violant de Bar to the gentleman and poet Joan Bonaventura de Gualbes, the hero of the city's siege in 1714.
