#estàsON Digital Courses

Biblioteques de Barcelona and Barcelona Activa are offering an educational programme from 22 October 2018 to 15 June 2019 which is aimed at encouraging children aged 6 to 12 to take an interest in science and technology.

Create your monster with micro:bit

Micro:bits are small programmable computers, designed to make teaching and learning fun and easy!

Using recycled materials, micro:bits and various other electronic elements (servomotors, batteries etc.,), children will work in groups to build a small monster with micro:bits as its central dynamic piece, on to which elements will be added to extend its interactivity. This will involve simple block programming concepts.

For children aged 6 to 8.

Advanced booking required.

Create movement with Lego WeDo

Lego WeDo can be built with sensors and a motor connected to a computer and forms of behaviour can be programmed using an extremely simple tool such as Scratch, a fun and easy way to discover robotics.

Small interactive structures can be built from Lego WeDo elements which tell a story. This will involve simple block programming concepts.

For children aged 6 to 8.

Advanced booking required.

Play with Littlebits. Electronics for everyone

Littlebits is an easy-to-use electronic colour block platform that enables everyone, young and old alike, to create inventions.

Several interactive models will be built with small colour-coded bits modules to bring the group's ideas to life, boxes that open when you wave your hand over a place, counters that tell you how many times a box has opened etc.

For children aged 6 to 8.

Advanced booking required.

Micro:bit emerges from the labyrinth

Micro:bit is a small programmable computer, designed to make teaching and learning fun and easy!

A challenge for solving will be created using recycled materials and a buggy for micro:bit. A labyrinth from which the mobile device that controls the micro:bit has to find a way out. This will involve block programming concepts.

For children aged 9 to 12.

Advanced booking required.

Lego chain reactions

Lego WeDo can be built with sensors and a motor connected to a computer and forms of behaviour can be programmed using an extremely simple tool such as Scratch, a fun and easy way to discover robotics.

We will build a chain-reaction device using Lego WeDo elements, in the purest style of impossible machines. This will involve block programming concepts.

For children aged 9 to 12.

Advanced booking required.

Littlebits: electronics to wear

Littlebits is an easy-to-use electronic colour block platform that enables everyone, young and old alike, to create inventions.

Several interactive models will be built using small colour-coded bits modules to bring the group's ideas to life. The aim is to create elements that can be worn (hats, aprons, gloves, cases), and the Littlebits Code Kit will be introduced, which has a colour-coded programmable LED matrix. This will involve block programming concepts.

For children aged 9 to 12.

Advanced booking required.

You will likewise need to bring your Biblioteques de Barcelona library card. Places are limited. You can book a place online at barcelona.cat/biblioteques or at the library itself.

Every participant in the workshop will take home an invitation to take part in a family workshop at the Maker-Convent for free.
