Books with soundtracks

Books with soundtracks are a set of Spotify playlists based on the top music books available in the city's libraries. The playlists featured in books with soundtracks are a useful tool for listening to songs cited by the author as they appear in the text, in a simple and orderly way. These books are identified by a tag with “Llibre amb banda sonora” [Book with soundtrack] and a QR that leads to the list.

The following books have a Spotify list:

Greil Marcus. Escuchando a The Doors [The Doors: A Lifetime of Listening to Five Mean Years]. Contra, 2012.

In his inimitable, radical style, Marcus goes beyond a careful listening to the band's songs to offer one of the most perceptive takes on the cultural legacies of the 1960s you'll ever read.

Charlie Gillett. Historia del rock: el sonido de la ciudad [The Sound of the City: The Rise of Rock and Roll] . Ma Non Troppo, 2008.

The most complete and rigourously researched history of rock-and-roll ever written. An essential book for understanding the history and culture of rock.

Mistery Train

Greil Marcus. Mystery Train: imágenes de América en la música rock & roll [Mystery Train: Images of America in Rock 'n' Roll Music]. Contra, 2013.

Mystery Train has become established as one of the best, most perceptive and fascinating essays ever written about rock and roll.

Ted Gioia. Blues: la música del Delta del Mississippi [Delta Blues: The Life and Times of the Mississippi Masters who Revolutionized American music]. Turner, 2010.

If anyone can talk about music with the documented material of a researcher, the passion of a novelist and a fan's love of anecdotes, it's Ted Gioia.
