Keiko Furukura begins to work in a convenience store. Being a bit strange, this work gives her the opportunity to understand some rules of social behavior. But what everyone finds strange is that, some time later, when she's already thirty-six, she still works in that same place.

Japanese writer Sayaka Murata has written a novel about social rules, single women and the pressure to conform to rules that are often arbitrary. Winner of the prestigious Akutagawa Prize, the writer comes to Casa Asia to present and discuss the book.
