Market chairmen visited 4YFN at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona

A Barcelona Markets delegation visited 4YFN to learn more about the latest tech innovations and start-ups

Retailers had a date with technology. A Barcelona Markets delegation was joined by the Councillor for Commerce and Markets, Montserrat Ballarín, and the Second Deputy Mayor, Jaume Collboni, on a visit to 4YFN (Four Years From Now), a space where start-ups from around the world present their tech innovations, some of which are adapted to the world of commerce and business. The market chairmen and retailers were able to find out at first hand about apps that could help with their sales and business.

The apps presented included some that help customers with choosing food for home delivery; others are more useful for markets that can design a route for refuse collection trucks. There is even a platform that helps companies convert their entire product catalogue into video ads.

The visit allowed the retailers and tech companies to find a place for sharing their ideas, and seeing how far apps can facilitate and drive local commerce and businesses forward. Throughout the afternoon, these organisations and representatives of the world of commerce were able to exchange ideas and talk about their common needs.

The Barcelona Markets Institute is opting for new technologies and keeping market traders up to date with all the apps that can make them more competitive in a global market and where customised trade has an important place.

For their part the traders commented on the importance of being able to take part in forums and meetings like these which introduce them to new technologies and new types of virtual business.
