Sants shopping district to be made more accessible

When

13/3/2017

The Sants Sense Barreres (Sants without Barriers) project's programme of subsidies aims to improve the accessibility of establishments in the Creu Coberta shopping district.

Now that an analysis of  accessibility at 60 businesses in C/ Creu Coberta in the Sants-Montjuïc district has been completed, from now until 31 May 2017, the Sants Sense Barreres (SASBA) project is offering grants to the establishments signed up to the scheme to carry out the proposed reforms and improvements.

Of the shops analysed, a number of those signed up to the project have carried out accessibility reforms and have received a subsidy of up to 75% of the total cost of the work, up to a maximum of 2,500 euros.

Promoted by Barcelona City Council ( Municipal Institute for Persons with Disabilities, Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Urban Landscape and the Sants-Montjuïc District, Creu Coberta Traders Association and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya), the project has enjoyed the essential collaboration of the district’s associations for people with disabilities.

The SASBA project, which started with a physical accessibility study conducted by students from the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB), will ensure the full accessibility of shops through the programme of grants it offers.
