Grants and subsidies

Within the limits set by the municipal budget, Barcelona City Council approves the award of subsidies to organisations and individuals that carry out activities and projects within the municipal boundaries of Barcelona.

This financial support is intended to subsidise activities of public and social interest whose aims include improving social cohesion in the city; promoting associations that provide services of general interest to the community; fostering social and cultural values and new types of public participation; promoting cooperation between the public and private sectors; the city's cultural growth; promoting more sustainable development in the city and improving coexistence and civic behaviour among city residents.

 

Commerce subsidies 2017

The application period for this year’s commerce subsidies is from 5 January to 2 February 2017.

The commerce area is called “Local commerce and economic promotion” (letter O) and the programmes you for which you may apply for grants and subsidies are as follows:

O.a.11) Initiatives for boosting, communicating and promoting commerce
O.b.11) Training initiatives aimed at retailers and/or employees.
O.c.11) Strengthening the administrative structures of retail associations.
O.d.11) Projects for improving sustainability in commerce.

 

Subsidies 2016

Call for subsidy and grant applications for carrying out city and district projects, activities and services for 2016

Acting within the limits set by the municipal budgets for 2016, Barcelona City Council plans to grant subsidies to organisations carrying out activities linked to the world of commerce within Barcelona's municipal boundaries. These subsidies, managed by the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, are included in the ordinary call for applications for subsidies granted by Barcelona City Council for general district and city projects, activities and services.

The call for grants and subsidies for this year (2016) includes, for the first time, the call for Responsible Consumption grants and subsidies.

The commerce area is called “Local commerce and economic promotion” (letter O) and the programmes you may apply for grants and subsidies for are as follows:

O(a)(11)  Initiatives for boosting, communicating and promoting internal and external commerce
O(b)(11)  Boosting, communication and promotion activities during the CHRISTMAS CAMPAIGN
O(c)(11) Training initiatives aimed at retailers and/or employees.
O(d)(11) Strengthening the administrative structures of retail associations.
O(e)(11)  Projects for improving sustainability in commerce (new support line)

The amount allocated to the area of commerce's grants and subsidies is 1,300,000 euros.

The Consumption area is called “Responsible Consumption” (letter U) and the programmes you may apply for grants and subsidies for are as follows:

U(a)(11) Information and dissemination initiatives on responsible-consumption habits.
U(b)(11) Community projects of public or social interest that involve responsible-consumption practices.
U(c)(11) Initiatives from running consumers' associations.

The amount allocated to this new line of grants and subsidies in the area of responsible consumption is 300,000 euros.

This year's period for submitting applications will run from 28 December 2015 to 21 January 2016, both dates inclusive.

Subsidies 2015 

Requisite documentary evidence for subsidy and grant applications to carry out city and district projects, activities and services for 2015

Natural or legal persons that end up as beneficiaries of a subsidy or grant awarded under the call for grant and subsidy applications for 2015 must present documentary proof of this according to the documents you will find on the following link

Note that the documentary proof will have to be presented through the City Council's General Registry before 28 February 2016, along with the original invoices providing documentary evidence, at the very least, of the amount subsidised.

Subsidies for Christmas lighting in 2016

The final decision on awards and rejections in the call for Barcelona City Council grants and subsidies for the 2016 Christmas Street Lighting Campaign was published in the Official Barcelona Province Gazette (BOPB) on 19 December 2016.

The requisite documentary evidence for these grants and subsidies must be presented under the terms, conditions and form established under point 10 of the call's terms and conditions. Documentation should be presented and registered at the official registry of any of the city’s Citizen Help and Information Offices (OAC) and addressed to the Department of Commerce and Consumer Services.
