Barcelona City Council offers you a summary of the  the 2016 commercial sector survey. It covers the most important characteristics of the city’s commerce, retailers’ opinions on commercial activity and the outlook for the future.

Regarding the type of property holding, 71.8% of the premises visited are rented, 17.4% are owned and 6.1% have been granted a municipal lease.

73% of shops have automated management. The most computerised industries are Cars (90.4%); Pharmacy, Medicine and Perfume (88.9%); and Wine and Tobacco (75.0%). 

The retailers with their own website come to 31.6%

The retailers with their own website come to 31.6%. Practically all the websites are for information, with 4 out of every 10 offering online purchases.

70% of retail managers are strongly against opening on Sundays

70% of retail managers are strongly against opening on Sundays, and 5.9% are mostly in favour. 23.5% are in favour.
