VALUES AND EBONOMIES OF CULTURE

The idea of a cultural commons is not just an alternative economic model, but a set of practices that force us to set up new strategies for the exploitation of culture: situated models and forms of exploitation that communities participate in.

COMMUNAL MANAGEMENT OF CULTURE

Moments of crisis are not the time to “invent” community management, but a time for public institutions to guarantee its existence and durability. We want to understand the commons not as an exceptional and accidental setup, but as a set of practices of direct democracy and social invention. Common goods not as a reality that is in opposition to what is public, but as local living processes that point to new ways of functioning and being for public institutions.

MEMORY INSTITUTIONS

We will tackle popular culture not as a reflection of past forms but as a result of them, a culture that is very much alive, and which may be strengthened and evolve through a new paradigm: models that foster cultural sustainability using autonomous protocols and practices that guarantee access, remixing, transparency, and citizen participation.

CITIZEN LABORATORIES

A culture that is made not of objects and closed experiences, but of dynamic processes of construction or cooperation that are open to multiple kinds of contributions. A way of understanding culture as a laboratory for society, where responses to the systematic crises of our communities may be put to the test, and where new forms of participation may be enabled.
