Discoforum: searching for the soundtrack of the neighbourhood
A project that seeks to build a network of listening groups in several Barcelona neighbourhoods that will promote recognition and lend value to several ways of understanding and experiencing the city through music.]
Based on a willingness to consider and work with the context that surrounds popular music as a vehicle for communities to express and articulate themselves, this project aims to build a network of listening groups in several Barcelona neighbourhoods that will promote recognition and lend value to several ways of understanding and experiencing the city through music.
The goal is to create a context that promotes an enriching experience via the practice of listening to music collectively. Interaction within communities through sharing and listening to a variety of music proposed by the participants will be facilitated by creating groups of diverse people in several Barcelona neighbourhoods; in other words, knowledge will be exchanged through several genres of music.
Regarding book or film clubs, we will develop a project that focuses on listening and debating songs with the aim of creating meeting points and facilitating interactions and new sociable spaces.
Music related activities combine certain qualities that facilitate the coexistence of different social desires: the search for the popular, the individual and the collective, are just a few examples. This will allow us to consider, generate and give visibility to respectful links between urban identities whilst facilitating exchanges and interrelations.
This project will begin in September 2017 with a preliminary study in the neighbourhoods to facilitate its subsequent implementation and identify active communities. The project will then be able to begin working with them and will ultimately generate new and diverse communities.
