The Department for Citizen Rights and Diversity offers direct citizen-assistance services through the Office for Non-Discrimination and Religious Affairs, as well as a programme of cultural activities in every kind of format aimed at all citizens through the Avinyó - Language and Culture Space.
The Office for Non-Discrimination is a mechanism for guaranteeing human rights at a local level aimed at attending discrimination-related human rights’ violations. The service is aimed at all citizens, but pays special attention to the discrimination people suffer due to sexual orientation and gender identity, origin, cultural and religious belonging, etc.
The Religious Affairs Office is a service that offers advice and aid for managing the daily issues of religious communities, training in the various religious beliefs, mediation in religion-related disputes and information on the spaces and services the city’s various religious faiths offer.
The Avinyó - Language and Culture Space offers a cultural activities programme in every kind of format. Aimed at the city’s residents, it is intended to boost the values of interculturality while raising the profile of the city’s existing cultural diversity. It does all that by encouraging reflection on positive community life and breaking stereotypes of people from different cultural contexts.
