The Magic Fountain starts its autumn schedule

09/28/2017 - 14:30

In October, the Magic Fountain will be operating at the optimal times for Barcelona's ornamental fountains. Starting on 13 October, the fountain will include representative excerpts from the 49th Barcelona Voll-Damm International Jazz Festival programme.

From 1 to 31 October, the Magic Fountain will be operational on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9 to 10 pm, with light and colour shows from 9 to 9:30 pm.

The daytime ornamental shows for the Magic Fountain and the fountains along Avinguda Maria Cristina will keep to their current Sunday and holiday Monday times of 11 am to 3 pm, and on weekdays from 11 am to 1 pm and 4 to 6 pm.

The Magic Fountain’s schedule is adapted to the optimised schedule for Barcelona’s ornamental fountains, which is based on sustainability criteria. The start of the shows coincide with sunset during the winter months, and the days and duration of the shows are adapted to the times when there are most people around. This is a good way to showcase one of the city’s big tourist attractions while making a more rational and efficient use of our hydrological resources.

Starting on 5 October, the Magic Fountain will be offering its well-known shows, including pop-rock hits featuring excerpts from Wonderwall (Oasis), Somebody to Love (Queen) and Material Girl (Madonna), as well as film soundtracks including Oz The Great and Powerful, Iron Man 3 and Assassins Creed as the largest blocks.

The choreographies presented at the 2016 La Mercè pyrotechnic-musical show dedicated to French music are also being maintained. These include Edith Piaf, Georges Moustaki and Charles Aznavour, as well as the fountain’s classical music choreographies: Barcelona, Viva la Vida and el Cant de la Senyera.

Check the choreography schedule on the Magic Fountain website.

The 49th Barcelona Voll-Damm International Jazz Festival

Starting on 13 October, the Montjuïc Magic Fountain, in collaboration with the 49th Barcelona Voll-Damm International Jazz Festival, will include representative excerpts from this year’s festival programme, dedicated to renowned artists such as Diana Krall, Jean Pierre Leloir, the Hironmi duet FT and Edmar Cartañeda, Logan Richardson.

They will be played every Friday in October, in the 9:30 pm session, and every Friday in November in the 8:30 session (winter time), with a duration of approximately 20 minutes.
