Barcelona has a very dynamic economic fabric made up of a wide variety and wealth economic players. The City Council aims to strengthen the city’s economic and social mix, by promoting a plural economy that opts for sectoral and territorial diversity, avoiding any over-specialisation of particular areas, with a diversity of models, scales and types of business investment.
It is along these lines that we are relaunching the 22@ project, with greater participation from SMEs and social-economy projects. We are aiming for a networked economy that places emphasis on cooperation instead of competition. Cooperation makes even more sense in terms of the green and circular economy sector.
The Business Support Office (OAE) fosters collaboration between SMEs, to help them develop by creating economies of scale and territorial clusters, while the Business Creation Support Service promotes new business models, while working to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
