Barcelona has a very dynamic economic fabric made up of a wide variety and wealth economic players. The City Council aims to strengthen the city’s economic and social mix, by promoting a plural economy that opts for sectoral and territorial diversity, avoiding any over-specialisation of particular areas, with a diversity of models, scales and types of business investment.
It is along these lines that we are relaunching the 22@ project, with greater participation from SMEs and social-economy projects. We are aiming for a networked economy that places emphasis on cooperation instead of competition. Cooperation makes even more sense in terms of the green and circular economy sector.
The Business Support Office (OAE) http://empresa.barcelonactiva.cat/empresa/cat/ fosters collaboration between SMEs, to help them develop by creating economies of scale and territorial clusters, while the Business Creation Support Service http://emprenedoria.barcelonactiva.cat/emprenedoria/cat/promotes new business models, while working to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
