The plan to add vitality to local commerce in the neighbourhood of Besòs i el Maresme features various measures to boost commercial activity there. Initiatives to be put in place include the creation of a trade fair in the street for establishments to get out into well-known locations around the neighbourhood, a second hand fair and the third edition of the Tastatapes Besòs initiative to promote local bars and restaurants.
A local delivery service is also planned for customers in the area, as well as improved accessibility for people with disabilities and more efficient energy use to optimise the sustainability of businesses. Likewise, signage will be perfected at local shops and the Xavier Nogués Retailers Association.
The Councillor for Commerce and Proximity, Montserrat Ballarín, signed the agreement on Wednesday to promote local commerce in this neighbourhood in the Sant Martí district. The document was also signed by the chair of the Besòs Municipal Market Concessionary Association, Xavier Miravitlles; the chair of the Xavier Nogués Retailers Association, Merche Teruel, and the chair of the 019 Retailers Association, Raquel Espada.
During the act, Ballarín stressed the will of the City Council to continue working with associations in all Barcelona neighbourhoods to strengthen establishments and local commerce. “All neighbourhoods have their own profile and their own distinct commerce. That’s what we have to keep going, the City Council and traders working together and relying on the support of citizens”, explained Ballarín.
