Promoting the city

As a global city, Barcelona must promote economic relations abroad in order to boost the local economy and attract activities that generate quality employment and prosperity.

It does that by city branding, which means associating the city with businesses, investments and productive activities, prioritising markets and focusing on economic sectors that are strategic for the local economy, attending fairs and congresses, and organising economic missions, among other promotional activities.

When investment projects are identified, they are provided with facilities and support to help them become established. Help is also provided for the activities of the international economic community already established in Barcelona, making it more dynamic and increasing its loyalty to the city. Another factor is the increased international connectivity of Barcelona Airport, as it has been proven that introducing new air routes has a significant effect on the creation of direct and indirect employment, as well as being necessary for attracting global companies to our region.
