From October 6 to 8, the Pau Negre Municipal Sports Centre will be the venue for the first round of the Euro Hockey League, the most important grass hockey competition in Europe. Three Catalan teams are participating: the Reial Club Polo de Barcelona and l’Atlètic Terrassa, both of which have already secured a place in the second round, and Club Egara, which will play in this first round. This event will once more situate Barcelona as a model city when it comes to hosting large sporting events.

24 teams from across Europe will participate in the league, some of which do not have to compete in this first round. In fact, only half the teams will take part (12 in total). They will be divided into four groups of three teams. The winning team in each group will qualify for the next round: knock out 16.

In this first round held in Barcelona, Club Egara and the following teams will be playing: Uhlenhorst Mülheim, Cardiff & Met, Royal Racing Club de Bruxelles, WKS Grunwald Poznan, HC Bloemendaal, Wimbledon, Bromac Kelburne, Dinamo Elektrostal, Banbridge HC, SV Arminen and Saint Germain HC.
