On September 14, as part of the programme of Jazzing, the jazz festival staged at various venues in the Sant Andreu neighbourhood throughout the month, Fabra i Coats will host a talk by Joan Chamorro, director of the Sant Andreu Jazz Band, reviewing the ensemble’s ten-year career. Following this, the band will present an open rehearsal featuring sax player Perico Sambeat.

The Sant Andreu Jazz Band Association is a non-profit organisation set up to manage the educational initiative launched by the ensemble itself to found a jazz band, led by the musician Joan Chamorro, through which more than 50 musicians aged from 6 to 20 years have passed.
The alto sax player Perico Sambeat is considered one of the greatest living Spanish jazz musicians. His extraordinary professional career has won him enormous prestige, both in Spain and further afield. Among than a score of albums as band leader and over a hundred recordings as the member of different lineups, his most outstanding achievements include his work with such jazz legends as Brad Mehldau, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Tete Montoliu, Michael Brecker, Pat Metheny and many, many more.
