Open data citizen hackathon

September 16 - 18, 2016

From September 16 to 18, the i2CAT Foundation will coordinate the organisation of the first open data citizen hackathon in Barcelona. The themes of this event will revolve around key challenges to the city, such as health, local services and culture.

The participants will have the chance to study the challenges proposed, share their opinions with the community and propose and develop solutions that can have a clear effect on meeting the needs of citizens.

Citizens and organisations taking part in the project will have access to experts in open data who will assist them in exploring how applications based on open data can help them to resolve their needs.

The citizen hackathon will be structured around two different areas: a concept and prototype zone, where working parties will develop their projects; and an inspiration zone, where micro-talks will be given by mentors and experts in the different themes involved, and training resources in open data will be available.

Participating teams will also receive a support pack covering technical aspects, user experience and finance to help them put their app idea into practice.
