La Mercè at Fabra i Coats

September 22 - 24, 2016

From September 22 to 24, as part of the Mercè 2016 celebrations, the art factory will present the two winning projects from the European call for proposals Barcelona Creative Ring Challenge (CRC): Pix-celona Multiplayer Quiz, developed by AppNormals Team; and Croma, by the HandmadeDance group.

Croma is a stage project that explores the interaction between different spaces and the audience, combining dance and digital technologies. The making-of of the show, which the company produced during their residency at Fabra i Coats – Art Factory, can be seen here.

Pix-celona Multiplayer Quiz is a collaborative quiz game about Barcelona and Catalonia featuring pixel art illustrations and animations created by Iñaki Díaz and Dani Moya, the authors and developers of independent video games like "PixelWord" and "Stay".

Barcelona Creative Ring Challenge is a call for proposals organised by CreatiFI, a programme cofinanced by the European Commission and developed by ICUB in cooperation with the i2CAT Foundation. Aimed at artists, multimedia authors and ICT professionals, the initiative pursues the goal of promoting the development of art projects with technological or multimedia components that simultaneously connect some of the Mercè 2016 venues through the use of FIWARE. Fabra i Coats, the Ciutadella Park and the CCCB will be the three venues connected virtually, and the interventions created at each will generate a full show that can be enjoyed in real time from all three sites.

La Mercè at Fabra i Coats – Art Factory

On September 22, 23 and 24 there will be two daily performances of Croma on the ground floor of the art factory: on September 22, at 9 and 11pm, and on September 23 and 24, at 9.45pm and 12am.

Visitors will be able to play Multiplayer Quiz all three days, beginning at 9 pm until the closure of the festival.

As one of the main venues of the MAC Festival, the art factory will also host the following acts: "Automàtics" by Cia Red Button, "Here" by the multidisciplinary studio Col.lec, "Carolina i Ferran" by Jordi Teixidó and "Into the Shadows" by Maria Villate.

Moreover, over the entire weekend, the external areas at the Fabra i Coats site will host a huge programme of activities, including many related to the new technologies: shows, screenings, installations, concerts and so on. See the programme here.
