December 17 - 18, 2016
On the weekend of December 17 and 18, Fabra i Coats hosts the fifth edition of the Dau Barcelona festival of board games. The main purpose of this event, which is aimed at family audiences, is to promote the learning and playing of board games.
The festival will occupy several venues at the Fabra i Coats site, including the Art Factory itself and the Josep Bota Space and L’Harmonía athenaeum. The programme will include games for all audiences, produced by Catalan and Spanish publishers, as well as championships, presentations, a great night-time session, prototypes and much more. Children’s games will be strongly represented in a large dedicated area where the Plataforma per la Llengua (Platform for the Language) will invite young visitors to play in Catalan.
This year, restaurant services will be provided at the Dau Barcelona festival by El Cargol Graciós, a cultural and culinary association based in Barcelona’s Gràcia neighbourhood. This provision is designed to encourage visitors to stay longer at the event.
Around fifteen guides will also be available to inform festival-goers all about the event, telling them about the different activities and venues. Finally, as every year, a huge participative game will be organised to test the ingenuity of visitors to the Dau Barcelona Festival.
Dau Barcelona: Saturday and Sunday, December 17 and 18.
Admission free. Capacity limited.
