Costume Design for Performing Arts

Theory and practical course the aim of which is to introduce pupils to the world of performing arts costume and wardrobe design. It will start with a review of different historical periods and the role of costume in different media. The profession of costume designer will be explained and, by means of a practical case study, the whole creative process of wardrobe design for a performance will be explored step by step, culminating in designing the wardrobe of a particular character.

The aim, therefore, is to stimulate the interest of the participants in any creative arts process, while at the same time offering them the tools to develop it. What matters is not so much the outcome but a sense of enjoyment and practical learning.

Gloria Viguer Zabala has been a costume designer for more than fifteen years, continually balancing her work between theatre, cinema, television and various audio-visual and drama shows.
