'Masticar Hielo' by El Eje company at Tantarantana

Directed by Marc Ribera and performed by Eric Balbàs, Maria Hernández, Mar Pawlowsky and Jordi Samper.

Masticar Hielo is a free interpretation of Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

Martha and George invite Nuna and Nick to supposedly go for a drink after the party that is being thrown by Martha’s father. Nuna and Nick witness the macabre dynamic of the host couple: violence, sex, abuse…. What was meant to be a drink agreed to out of courtesy, turns into a nightmare that transforms the guest couple and sucks them into their hosts’ appalling spiral. Undisclosed confessions and secrets push the concept of love into the spotlight.

Fiction and reality are confused. Who is telling the truth? When lying becomes a game, the game becomes dogma. Masticar Hielo is an acerbic comedy that can eat anyone alive; a shock to romantic love. It is, literally, crazy.
