Playwriting course for actors divided into three independent levels.

Level 1

The aim here is to bridge the gap between acting and playwriting. The actor holds in tension emotions and feelings to embody their characters, but these tools also enable the production of a world, a play and ultimately a story. This level will develop stories and uncover an art of theatre that is explored and created onstage. Participants will thus become conscious playwrights, since the story passes through the actor creating from the present moment.

Level 2

The second level will explore in greater depth the three interpretative tools that allow us to create stories: the word, emotions and sensations. It will explore space as a dramatic motor and narrative as a crux of the story. On the second day participants will work with the material brought along by each student as a creator, whether an idea, dialogue, written scene, story… helping it continue its work organically as it makes necessary new contacts on each level.

Level 3

In the third level, the student will be given the tools to stage the stories she/he has heard and written, thus bringing to a close the creative theatre process in a global way. The student will explore the three levels and acquire the necessary tools to work from each one and integrate them harmoniously within their creative processes. On the second day participants will work with the material brought along by each student to help in concrete form their process of creation.

Alejandra Jiménez is an actor from Seville trained at the ESAD in Seville and the Escola Jacques Lecoq in Barcelona. She has worked in television, theatre and cinema. She is a founder member of the improvisatory group Impro Barcelona. She has recently created and acted in her own work, Blanca Desvelada. She is a presenter at the Nits del Club de la Comèdia at Barcelona’s Teatre Poliorama.
