For the ninth consecutive year, the Cercle Tecnològic de Catalunya (Ctecno) presented the Barometer of the Technological Sector in Catalonia.
For the ninth consecutive year, the Cercle Tecnològic de Catalunya (Ctecno) presented the Barometer of the Technological Sector in Catalonia, a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the situation of the information and communication technologies sector in Catalonia.
In each edition, the barometer has been growing in terms of the prospective analysis of the sector trends and the proposal of recommendations and roadmaps for the Catalan technological stakeholders.
In order to perform this study, 16 opinion leaders were interviewed. Five focus groups and a survey answered by almost 1000 companies were done. Francesca Bria, Commissioner of technology and digital innovation, participated in the study; she was interviewed focusing on qualitative data collection and, regarding the issue of the inclusion of women in the ICT sector, the following was highlighted: “It is necessary to achieve a stronger inclusion, diversity and equality of salaries in the technological industry. We need a major and common commitment to boost girls and women in the world of technology. ”
The main data gathered in the Barometer is: the ICT sector is formed by 13,794 companies (5.7% more than in 2015), a growth of 4,000 new ICT companies since 2008 can be observed, the breakdown of the development areas of the Business (which are still located in Spain), technologies with a greater growth forecast, the inclusion of women in the technological sector.
