#JAM17 about 'Technologies for a networked democracy'

10/10/2017 - 08:00

#JAM17 'Technologies for a networked democracy', on 26, 27 and 28 October, at the Vèrtex Building at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Barcelona).

Under the slogan 'Technologies for a networked democracy’, Metadecidim's community will be meeting in the Vèrtex Building, at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Barcelona).

The registration period is now open for #JAM17, the most important meeting space of Decidim’s community (visit the website and register!). Decidim.org is a public commons infrastructure, open and free; it is a community project launched by Barcelona City Council, which several municipalities are currently using.

As you will see in the programme, we’ll be dealing with the conception, use and social impact of technologies in a networked democracy, from an inter-municipal approach with Barcelona, Hospitalet, Terrassa, Sabadell, Gavà, Sant Cugat, Vilanova, Pamplona and Mataró, among other places, to move towards a network of democratic cities and institutions!

The conference came about, towards the end of 2016, with the constitution of the #Metadecidim community, a participatory process within Barcelona’s platform decidim.barcelona, to redesign it in an open, transparent and collaborative way.

The #Metadecidim community has currently established itself in other spaces, such as SOM meetups (Metadecidim Operative Sessions)  and LAB (open research spaces) where individual participants and groups involved regularly meet up, to share our vision, goals and experiences about the platform to turn it into a political-transformation tool and model.

Come along, lets build a democracy for the 21st century!
