This gastronomy and local and quality commerce fair has brought thousands of people to Avinguda de la Catedral on its opening day which, without a doubt, has been a huge success.
The big market fair is now under way on Avinguda de la Catedral For three days, the space will be filled with local, quality products, producers and stallholders, gastronomy, restaurants, talks and cooking demonstrations, tasting sessions… And everything to do with markets.
This year the fair is giving particular importance to sustainability So, throughout the space you will find containers of all colours for carrying out recycling. Also, the plates and cutlery used at the fair are made from plastic or cardboard and various signs remind visitors that they need to recycle them in the corresponding waste bins. A number of talks and presentations have also been organised on food waste, reuse, the zero-waste trend, in short, everything you can do to look after the environment in relation to the gastronomy sector.
New to this year’s fair is the presence of the city’s non-food markets: the Encants de Sant Antoni, the Mercat dels Encants and the Sant Antoni Sunday Market are all represented at the fair for the first time.
At this the 9th edition, people who visit the fair with children will be able to enjoy a family area where activities will be organised related to the markets and sustainable and responsible consumption.
This year the fair also features a new area called Mercats de la Terra or Regional Markets. In this edition they are represented by the market of Manresa, which will take a central spot at Mercat de Mercats.
As always, producers and stallholders have brought their trade to Avinguda de la Catedral to offer all visitors the best produce and an excellent service. What’s more, for those who find the fair whets their appetite, the tapas zone – where are number of the city’s markets are represented – offers a wide variety of dishes which, like last year, can be exchanged for the tokens given at the fair.
