The designs of Josep Maria Magem, presented in an exhibition

Interior design and industrial design are two disciplines that Josep Maria Magem embraced throughout his professional career. Now, the exhibition Magem Incandescent at the Sabadell Art Museum (from 31st August to 22nd January, 2018) takes a look back over his career.

The Museu del Disseny will be contributing to the exhibition with a talk on 7th November to discuss the key aspects of his personality and design production.

The exhibition has been curated by the design historian, Guillem Celada, who wanted to get away from a simple chronological account in order to talk about the context of design in Catalonia and Sabadell in particular, an industrial and peripheral city where design was not as evident as in other places.

Magem worked from the nineteen-sixties until 2012 in the design of both domestic and commercial interiors, for companies such as Swarovski, Caixa d’Estalvis de Sabadell and Ibermueble, and was always looking for a connection with his city, Sabadell.
