Every Wednesday, from 7th November to 27th February, 2019, the Museu del Disseny will host a new edition of the course “Introduction to the history of dress”, a training initiative given by fashion historians Laura Casal-Valls and Sílvia Rosés, who will be joined by specialists such as Teresa Bastardes, Ivanna López, Marta Marín, Sílvia Saladrigas, Sílvia Ventosa and Montserrat Xirau, among others.
The 15 sessions of the course, which have the exhibition of the Museu del Disseny “Dressing the body. Silhouettes and fashion (1550-2015)” as its starting point, will deal with the history of dress from various aspects such as design, restoration, documentation, artistic heritage and fashion trends.
It will begin by discussing the form of the dress in the Middle Ages and will end with the importance of this item in the 21st century, and will include visits to the Museu del Disseny’s Documentation Centre and the Dress Art store specialising in costumes for cinema, theatre and parties.
Aimed at fashion professionals, students and teaching staff of fashion design and costume schools, the course is priced at €170, with special prices for teachers, students, journalists, the over 65s and the unemployed.
