Presentation of the ’Accessible Exhibitions’ manual

On Wednesday, November 2 the Design Museum hosted the presentation of the manual Accessible Exhibitions. Ideas for eliminating communication barriers and facilitating access to content. The event was attended by the deputy mayor of social rights, Laia Ortiz: the director of the Design Museum, Pilar Vélez; and the author of the guide, Maria-José Ania.

Accessible Exhibitions is the result of a collaboration between the Institute of Culture and the Municipal Institute for People with Disablilities with the objective of making the city's museums more accessible to all of its citizens.

This manual is aimed at providing all professionals in the sector with tools and resources as well as ideas on how to improve the communcative accessibility of museums and, in doing so, also improve the quality of their services.

After the presentation, participants were given a guided tour of the exhibition Brick by Brick. Ceamics Applied to Architecture, which gives onsite examples of some of the manual's applications.
