Who was Elisava?

As you know, starting December 14th you can visit the Museu del Disseny de Barcelona, which can be accessed from Glories Plaza or the Elisava Gardens. 
 
The gardens, a green space located between the streets Badajoz and Alaba have been give the name Elisava in honour of the embroiderer of the tapestry that appears in the accompanying photograph.
 
Coming from the Cathedral at Seu d'Urgell, el Penó de Sant Ot, the piece is a standard of the 12th century made with linen and embroidered with silk thread with the inscription ELIs/AVA/MEF/CIT (Elisava me fecit) and belongs to the Museum's collection. The piece will form part of the exhibition “Extraordinary! Decorative Arts and Author Art Collections (3rd -20th centuries).
