Terrace Committee

The Terrace Technical Committee is a consultative body, specifically designed for evaluating technical aspects envisaged in the Terrace Byelaw .

The Urban Landscape Institute (IMPUQV) carries out the functions of the Terrace Technical Committee Secretariat, approved by Mayoral Decree of 17 July 2014. The committee is responsible to the Urban Ecology Manager’s Office and its members are drawn from the social and professional sectors on the ground, individuals and city commerce.

In exercising its functions, the Terrace Committee has to publish the necessary reports in relation to applications for the municipal terrace licence, in cases where there is any doubt concerning the interpretation of technical aspects in the byelaw, such as the materials and colours proposed, distances and specific positioning with regard to monuments and protected buildings, or any other aspect.

The committee also has to draft the proposals or instructions required for interpreting and clearing up questions posed in applying the byelaw, as well as publish the corresponding reports for special planning and prior layout projects, and propose their approval by decree.

The committee’s activity is collated in a detailed annual activity report that has to be submitted to the Municipal Council Committee. This annual report has to include a section on the times for deciding on and awarding licences.
