More than 4,000 families have now stopped counting steps thanks to the programme of financial help for lift installation. These people have improved accessibility to their homes and are now more independent. This is especially the case with elderly people, who are now finding it easier to live in the flats where they have always lived.

In buildings where the only feasible solution is to install an external lift on the façade, which takes up public space, the City Council looks for most appropriate solution by taking into account the particular conditions of each set of buildings. Then, depending on the architectural possibilities and the building's uses, it proposes the most suitable course of action.
