Barcelona Victimisation Survey (EVB)

Barcelona's Victimisation Survey is a study that periodically compiles information about security in the city. It has been carried out annually since 1984, and it leads to one of the broadest analytical series on the state of urban security at a local level. Its main aim is to provide data on the state of security in Barcelona in order to properly orientate municipal management of security and community life.
The EVB focuses on two main areas. First, the objective dimension of security, including the main criminal phenomena that affect Barcelona residents and providing information on the characteristics of the offences and their victims. Secondly, the subjective dimension, including residents' opinions on basic aspects such as perceived security in everyday environments and the effectiveness of police actions.
