Democratic Memory

The El Born Centre for Culture and Memory is playing host to the Sixth Annual Conference of European Union Memory Organisations, to analyse memory policies in their current relationship with the concepts of citizenship and democracy.

Through talks, debates and workshops, the conference aims to answer key questions on the current European project, such as the democratic weakening of its institutions, strategies for tackling collective identities, religious diversity and cultural fragmentation. And the role that memory plays in each case.

The sixth Annual Conference of the European Union’s Memory Organisations is organised by the European Commission and the European Observatory on Memories at the University of Barcelona’s Solidarity Foundation, with support from the El Born Centre for Culture and Memory.
