Road Safety

Road Safety

One of the priorities for the municipal government is to make the city a friendlier, safer and more sustainable place for pedestrians. . In order to achieve safer mobility, it is necessary to protect the most vulnerable groups that travel around urban areas. When we park our cars, or when we get off our motorbikes or bicycles, we become pedestrians. Protecting pedestrians means improving safety for everyone, because at one time or another, we are all pedestrians.

Drivers

We’re all responsible for ensuring different means of mobility can co-exist in the urban setting. As drivers, we need to be active and take care of the most vulnerable collectives (pedestrians, cyclists etc.) as we get around the city.

More information

Motorcycles and mopeds are quick and agile, but as riders we must respect road signs and traffic lights and help pedestrians feel relaxed and safe as they move around the city.

Cyclists

The bicycle is the healthiest and most sustainable means of getting around the city. Even so, we should be aware that we’re using another vehicle and as a result we have to respect traffic regulations, signs and traffic lights. That means respecting others when they have priority, particularly pedestrians.

  • Pedestrians always have priority
  • Use bicycle lanes. If there is no bicycle lane, cycle in the middle of the traffic lane when travelling on the road
  • Do not zig-zag
  • Use front and rear lights and reflective clothing
  • Always respect road signage

Pedestrians

As pedestrians we are the most vulnerable group moving around the urban space. Because of this, we need to be particularly respectful of traffic lights and signs, avoiding distractions.

  • Always walk on the pavement. Do not walk in bicycle lanes or on roads
  • Obey traffic lights
  • Always cross the road on pedestrian crossings
  • You need to take more care at pedestrian crossings without traffic lights
  • Pay special attention to vehicles that are turning
