CANTA GRAN! returns to the Auditori on 9 December

Christmas. The 19th Barcelona Senior Citizens Christmas Concert presents a repertoire based on popular songs from the Mediterranean.

For the nineteenth year running, CANTA GRAN! will be plying the Auditori with songs in a concert performed by 490 singers aged sixty and over, who have been rehearsing for weeks, under the baton of Montserrat Meneses, boasting a set staged by Ignasi Tomàs, texts adapted by David Pintó and music arranged by Jordi Cornudella.

This year’s Barcelona Senior Citizens Christmas Concert is focusing on a repertoire of songs from all over the Mediterranean basin, a musical offering covering the crystal-clear waters of Greece to the Syrian desert, not to mention Algerian mint tea, Tuscan landscapes, traditional songs from Israel, France, Catalonia, Spain and the Balearic Islands. A band consisting of five musicians and two soloist female singers will be accompanying the choir.

CANTA GRAN! is a musical and educational offering, co-produced by the Department for the Promotion of Senior Citizens at Barcelona City Council and the Auditori’s Educational Service, which works on choral music as a tool for promoting the participation of elderly people and active ageing.
