The popular festival in the neighbourhoods
Urban festivals have been a recurrent theme in amateur photography, as shown in the images of the collections of the hiking clubs or the Carrer Gran magazine of Gràcia. For some photographers, documenting the urban festival has been an ongoing line of work, as in the case of the photographers Ramírez and Ramírez (Joan Ramírez Sagarra and Joan Ramírez Vallhonrat), the father and son who for years documented the social and cultural life of Gràcia, or Josep Maria Contel, a photojournalist specialising in the history of Gràcia and the popular festivals of the neighbourhood.
