Revealed stories: The photograph collections of the municipal archives of the district
The street from amateur photography
The city and the street have always been one of the great topics of photography. The city is the scenario of modernity and the person taking the photograph, the flanneur who walks along its streets and documents urban life. There is a vast patrimony associated with street photography that has remained almost unseen among the collections of the municipal archives of the districts. These are amateur photographic practices developed throughout the 20th century, in which the subjects are the neighbourhoods and districts of Barcelona. All these collections form a very important part of the photographic history of Barcelona, of which a small selection is now presented.
