The Les Corts Fab Lab is a public digital creation and experimentation space located at the old Benet i Campabadal factory, a 1920s rationalist building that was previously a textile factory where silk ribbons were made. In addition, the Fab Lab shares its venue and activities with the Montserrat Abelló library, which specialises in the maker culture.
As a result of being located in a district that is very aware of inclusion in the broadest possible sense, this public venue works to highlight and give recognition to diversity, as well as the proper use and democratisation of technology and how to become a more participatory society in which opportunities to improve our environment and people’s lives can be created. The creations that have come out of this Fab Lab include, among others, a dress that won the Samsung EGO fashion award and an inclusive Dominoes set that can be used by people with functional diversity.
In accordance with these principles, anyone from the general public, schools, universities, organisations, students or companies can get involved in a fab lab and carry out their own projects.
The team is composed of four people with very cross-cutting profiles, something that enables us to cover a variety of fields in the world of digital manufacturing. These range from inclusion, social architecture, nature and technology, textiles, art and research to sustainability, technological education and crafts. The team provides support for projects from the initial idea right up to the creation of the best possible prototype.
At the Fab Labs we bring technology closer to people we provide support for projects we share knowledge by making qualified people available to you together with the necessary machinery.
