A posthumous book remembers a forgotten Barcelona photographer
“I go back to my neighbourhood and I see the sea from my house, I have a panoramic view of Barcelona that includes the sea. The mountains are near, the Collserola range is close by and the snails come out after the rain.” (Ginés Cuesta)
What was supposed to be a work that acknowledged the work of the photographer Ginés Cuesta Ortiz (Barcelona, 1945-2023) has, unfortunately, turned into a posthumous book. Ginés Cuesta died on 16 May 2023.
The book, which is the result of a selection of his photographs from the Roquetes Historical Archives in Nou Barris and conversations he had with the historian Isabel Segura, captures the everyday beauty of the people and spaces in the Verdun neighbourhood, as well as his favourite itineraries around Barcelona, from the mountains to the sea.
It is a tribute to the life and work of a photographer who deserves to come out of anonymity forever.
What are them saying
"Hi ha fotografies d’en Ginés Cuesta sense les quals no es pot explicar la història de Barcelona."
