Published for the exhibition of the same name [The Construction of Greater Barcelona. Opening up Via Laietana. 1908-1958], this book delves deeply into issues such as the redevelopment of the historical centres of Europe's big cities during the 19th century and start of the 20th century, the opening up and building of Barcelona's Via Laietana, its architecture, the appearance of monumental-scale buildings in the Cathedral neighbourhood and how the modern Barri Gòtic [Gothic Quarter] was conceived. It is illustrated with period photographs and contains maps, plans and drawings.
