This book traces the political and social unrest that shook the city between1833 and 1843, through the works of novelists, poets, playwrights, and scriveners, some of who were little known in their time and are forgotten today. In this fascinating decade, which passed through the movements of absolutism and liberalism, the people’s uprising was spurred on by the spirit of the Romantic intellectuals, whose liberal works would turn Barcelona into the instigator of the revolution and which would lay the foundations of the modern city from the political and social point of view.
