Portraits of the sustainable food ecosystem in the transformation of Barcelona

Author/s
Jordi Bes Lozano (Text), Lucía Herrero (Photography) and Martin Greedy (Translator)

The thirty or so stories in this book give readers a taste of the many projects bringing sustainable food to tables across Barcelona, which is good for people, places and the planet. The book was promoted, managed and coordinated by Álvaro Porro, Amaranta Herrero and Montse Peiron. The global food system is one of the main risk factors for health and is responsible for between a quarter and a third of the climate emergency.  Barcelona is one of the 200 cities worldwide that have acknowledged the part they play in this issue—as major consumers in the food system—and that have vowed to use their potential to move steadily towards food systems that are sustainable, healthy, prosperous and egalitarian. One of its missions is to spotlight and support citizens who are already on the path towards transformation.
