The book describes in detail the relationship between Joan Fuster and the city of Barcelona, understood as the capital of Catalanism. After his first trip there in February 1954, a period of some initiatory and mutual discovery, Fuster quickly comes into contact with the city’s intellectuals, seducing them with his wisdom and deep yet entertaining conversation. Here we see Fuster the journalist and writer, a man of action and a friend of friends, a passionate reader and writer who complains because he can’t make ends meet at the end of the month.
