This book is intended to highlight one of the city's least-known architects: August Font i Carreras (1845-1924). He enjoyed great fame during his lifetime and a career full of important commissions, such as the facade and dome of Barcelona's cathedral, Plaça de Les Arenes, the Palau de les Heures, the Maison Dorée and the Palau de Belles Arts for the Universal Exposition of 1888. His eclectic range of works lost their standing after his death and many of his buildings were subsequently pulled down.
