The history of the first markets of Barcelona which were built during the nineteenth century. Twelve stories each with their own personality: the markets of the Encants, the Boqueria, Santa Caterina, the Born, Sant Antoni, the Barceloneta, Hostafrancs, Llibertat, Concepció, Clot, Poblenou and the Abaceria. Through their history we are able to find out more about an essential period in Barcelona, a time of tremendous change both in the city and the country, as it moved towards modern times.
