Cycling. The final stage of this year’s Volta will again be held Barcelona, where the overall winner will be decided.

The Volta Ciclista a Catalunya arrives in Barcelona on 31 March, with this year’s event once again bringing the most prestigious cyclists on the current circuit to the city.

A new edition of the event is being staged from 25 to 31 March, offering a top-class line-up. The field includes the likes of Alejandro Valverde, last year’s winner, Marc Soler, Dan Martin, Fabio Aru, Romain Bardet and Thomas de Gendt, all of whom have confirmed they will be competing and who will no doubt be among those battling to make the podium in Barcelona.

The route

The event involves 25 teams and consists of seven stages distributed around Catalonia, setting off from Calella and ending up in Barcelona. It also includes two mountain finish lines, in the ski resorts of Vallter 2000 and La Molina, and returns to municipalities such as Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Vila-seca and Puigcerdà. In addition, cities such as Mataró, Valls and Sant Cugat del Vallès, as well as the municipalities of the Vall de Camprodon, all continue their involvement and will be able to enjoy world-class cycling again this year.

The ‘reVolta’ takes time out

The ‘reVolta’ is the women’s event of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya and started in 2018 with a race around the classic Montjuïc circuit in Barcelona. In 2019 this event is taking time out due to a congested calendar, but it will be back with a vengeance for its second edition in 2020, coinciding with the centenary year of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya.
