The clocks go back this weekend

28/10/2016 - 09:59 h*

Environment. The clocks go back an hour. At 3 am on Sunday morning it will be 2 am again as we switch to winter time.

As ever, on the last Sunday in October the clocks will change to adapt to winter time. In the early hours of Sunday morning clocks should go back as at 3 am it will once again be 2 am. Anyone with things lined up for Sunday morning, such as running in the Cursa de Bombers, should bear the change in mind!

The aim of the change, which was first applied in Spain in 1981, is to make the most of natural sunlight and use less electricity. The change is adopted by all EU states. According to the Institute for the Diversification and Saving of Energy, the change accounts for an estimated saving of 300 million euros.

Winter time remains in place until the last Sunday in March, when the clocks go forward and hour and we switch to summer time.
